The history of cinema is full of amazing performances by talented men and woman, both young and old. From the innocent elegance of Audrey Hepburn to the bravado-filled method acting of Marlon Brando, each performer brings their own unique style and character to the screen, but all truly great performances are alike in their ability to draw the audience in and leave their mark long after the credits role.
Since 1929, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have been honoring the best of the best in their annual Academy Awards®, presenting winners with a golden statuette officially referred to as an “Academy Award of Merit” but more commonly known as an “Oscar®.” Over 300 actors in both lead and supporting roles have been recognized by the Academy for delivering the best performances of the year.
