For more than 100 years, a deeply haunting tale as been passed down to terrify audiences. It rears its frightening head once again in DreamWorks Pictures’ The Turning, coming to Regal this Friday, January 24th.
Inspired by Henry James’ 1898 landmark novella, The Turn of the Screw, this haunted-house horror/thriller transports audiences to a mysterious, decaying estate in coastal Maine where a newly appointed nanny is charged with the care of two disturbed orphans. However, things may not be as they appear when she quickly discovers that both the children and the house are harboring dark secrets.

Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways) directs from a screenplay by Chad Hayes & Carey W. Hayes (White Out, The Conjuring). Mackenzie Davis (Blade Runner 2049, Terminator: Dark Fate) stars as the nanny, Kate Mandell, alongside Finn Wolfhard (It, The Addams Family) as 15-year-old orphan Miles Fairchild and Brooklynn Prince (The Florida Project, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) as Miles’ seven-year-old sister, Flora Fairchild. Kate’s mother, Darla Mandell, is played by Joely Richardson (Red Sparrow, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).
From silent movies like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) to modern hits like Get Out (2017), horror movies have continued to terrify audiences across the world with their unsettling themes, disturbing visuals, and iconic characters.
