Florence Pugh has been Cast in Olivia Wilde's New Movie

Production still from Little Women featuring Florence Pugh.

Fresh from her Oscar nomination for the acclaimed Little Women, Florence Pugh has her next project lined up. The rising British actor will appear in the new movie from Booksmart director Olivia Wilde, called Don't Worry Darling.

The intriguing-sounding project is a complete about-face from the raucous coming-of-age comedy Booksmart, which made stars out of Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever. Wilde's new movie is being described as a psychological thriller set in 1950s California, with Pugh playing a housewife whose sanity begins to unravel.

Pugh is one part of a heavyweight cast that also includes Honey Boy's Shia LaBeouf and Star Trek's Chris Pine. Wilde took to Twitter to announce the news and express her delight with her contingent of actors.

Deadline reports that Wilde herself will appear in the movie, which wasn't the case with Booksmart. File this under: decidedly intriguing.

In the meantime, Pugh will next appear alongside Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour and Rachel Weisz in Black Widow. The superhero thriller will initiate Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and arrives in November.

LaBeouf will next be starring in director David Ayer's crime thriller The Tax Collector, and Pine will be reprising his role as Steve Trevor in DC comic book sequel Wonder Woman 1984, due for release in August.
