This weekend Disney fans from around the world will flock to Anaheim, CA to experience all the magic and excitement of the past, present, and future of Disney entertainment when D23: The Official Disney Fan Club presents D23 Expo 2019. Among the more than 50 shows, presentations, and panels that will take place in the Anaheim Convention Center this weekend will be a marquee presentation on Saturday, August 24 at 10:00am during which The Walt Disney Studios will present an exclusive look at its highly anticipated movie slate.
D23, the first official fan club in Disney’s 90-plus-year history, has been providing fans with unprecedented access to all things Disney since presenting its first bi-annual D23 Expo in 2009. The Ultimate Disney Fan Event brings all the magical worlds of Disney together under one roof—including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars—for three packed days of presentations, pavilions, concerts, shopping, and more. The expo also features immersive experiences and special opportunities that provide a glimpse of what’s new and what’s next from Disney theme parks, television, music, products, and movies.
On Saturday, August 24, The Walt Disney Studios Chief Creative Officer and Co-Chairman Alan Horn will take the stage at Hall D23 to provide an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at upcoming animated and live-action theatrical releases from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Disney, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm. Past expos have featured first-released details on some of the biggest movies in the world, creating unforgettable moments that echo throughout the halls of the Anaheim Convention Center to this day. The inaugural expo made a splash in 2009 with the announcement of a fourth movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which later became Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011). Concept art from Doctor Strange (2016) debuted in 2015, and the cast of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War (2018) took over the stage in 2017 to debut never-before-seen footage from the movie, which received an immediate standing ovation from the audience. That same year, the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) joined writer-director Rian Johnson in presenting a behind-the-scenes look at their new movie.
