Chris Pratt will star in a remake of the action-comedy film Saigon Bodyguards, produced by Avengers: Endgame's Russo brothers. The 2016 Vietnamese film of the same name centered around two professional bodyguards who must find their most important asset after he is kidnapped under their protection. Directed by Ken Ochiai, the original film was written by Michael Thai, based on a story by Ochiai and Thai.

Pratt has come to prominence for both his action and comedic roles. After his breakout role as the lovable and goofy Andy Dwyer on NBC's hit comedy series Parks and Recreation, Pratt quickly rose as a movie star with his roles as Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and Avengers movies and dinosaur handler Owen Grady in the Jurassic World films. While he primarily gained his popularity from these blockbuster films, he's shown his action side in various other films like the 2011 Oscar-nominated film Zero Dark Thirty and the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven

According to Variety, Pratt will star alongside Wu Jing (Wolf Warrior films) in the Universal Pictures' remake of Saigon Bodyguards. Pratt will also produce the film through his Indivisible Productions alongside Joe and Anthony Russo, and Mike Larocca under their AGBO production banner. Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck (What Men Want) are penning the script. Universal’s Executive Vice President of Production Matt Reilly will oversee the film on behalf of the studio, while creative executive Kassee Whiting will oversee the project on behalf of AGBO.

Pratt signs on to Saigon Bodyguard

The project will see Pratt reunite with the Russo brothers, following Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Wu Jing, star of the successful Wolf Warrior franchise, previously worked with the brothers when they were consultants on 2017's Wolf Warrior 2, which became China's highest-grossing film of all time. Pratt recently wrapped on Jurassic World: Dominion, the third film in the blockbuster Jurassic World franchise.

There are currently no details regarding when production will begin on the project or when the film is expected to release. Fans are likely excited to see another action-comedy project with Pratt, who has certainly made a name for himself as a hero-type. Both lead actors have proven themselves to be great action stars, which will hopefully make Saigon Bodyguards as big of a hit as the original film.
