  • This movie is set in Bratford, New Hampshire, the same place the original film was set. At the end of the original film the main characters Alan and Sara take the game and throw it into a river. In the final scene of the original film we see that the game has washed up on a beach and is about to be discovered by two French speaking children. Yet, in 1996, just one year after the events of the original film, the game is back in Bratford, New Hampshire in a teenager's home. There is no explanation given as to how the game made its way back to Bratford.
  • Helicopters cannot maintain level flight while turned sideways, any pilot knows this and would never attempt such a move at low altitude while inside a canyon.

  • In the original movie, people return to the same point in the history when the game was started but but here they return to the ongoing timeline which can be accept but Alex returns and has a family as well. So Alex returns from the game but how does his wife and children magically come to existence without any backstory as when he started the game he was a teenager.
  • In the game, Alex makes a reference to "Gettin Jiggy Wit It", which wasn't released until 1997. Since he disappeared in 1996, he would not know the song reference as it had not yet been released.
  • When the teens start the video game there is a loading screen. This is a cartridge based game and cartridge based video games did not require loading. Batman Forever a cartridge based game gave players a "loading screen" back in the 90s.
  • There is a scene where Bethany (Jack Black) re-spawns and she is not wearing her jacket. Then the scene switches to somebody else, and when it switches back to her after 2 seconds she is wearing her jacket again.
  • When Bethany first enters the gym, she has her phone in her right hand. It's then gone as she extends her arms and says "Sorry" for being late. It then reappears when she's running.

  • [Around 49:00] In the bazaar, after Moose died after ate the cake, he re-spawns and lands on a large shelf. In one scene, one can see that the shelf has its right vertical upright totally disassembled from the internal shelves. A second later, on the left view, the shelf is fully restored in its original state.
  • When Spencer is standing outside the Freak House. Old Man Vreek appears with no red scarf but when the view comes from the car Old Man Break is wearing a red scarf and then it is gone again when the view goes back to a close up.
  • At 01:35:05, a crew member can be spotted on the left side of the screen.
  • While Bethany is composing her selfie, at the beginning of the movie, the coffee mug handle is facing to the left. When the camera angle changes to a wider shot, the mug handle is facing "upward,", which she adjusts to face left. She proceeds to take the selfie with the coffee mug handle facing left.
  • Removing staples from old magazines to prep them for recycling. There is no actual need to do this according to the recycle guide of MIT. Still the principal (or the writer for that matter) may use it as an intentional pointless task.
  • Around 1:34, after Karen Gillan's character stands up from being dragged behind a motorcycle, a member of the crew can be seen in the background on the far left side of the screen.
  • 36 minutes 31 seconds into the movie, camera guy seen hidden in trees on the left side.
  • When Bethany sets up the morning picture of herself, when the scene is seen through the phone screen the coffee mug's handle is facing towards her. When the shot changes the handle is facing upwards on the screen, which she then moves to face her again.
  • When Fridge and Stanley are speaking in front of the Freak house, Stanleys raincoat goes from being open at the collar to being zipped all the way up several times as the conversation cuts back and forth between the characters.
  • When the group comes to a dead end while running away from the bad guys on the motorcycles, Ruby Roundhouse (or Martha) says they all must jump off the cliff to save themselves. After they jump, Ruby climbs out of the water and dies because she was shot, however, there was no point where the bad guys were shooting at her. She was completely fine at the top of the cliff before jumping, and the bad guys never shot when they were in the water.
  • At 4:08 when Moose enters the scene, his necklace which shows his jersey number 94 is on backwards. The scene cuts to his mother, and then back to him when at 4:23 you can now see the number is facing forward.
