The IMAX Experience Returns to Opry Mills

Nashville loves the big screen, and with our reopened IMAX theatre at Opry Mills Stadium 20, you'll be able to "see more, hear more, and feel more" in every IMAX presentation.

Through the IMAX® Digital projection system this theatre will showcase Hollywood movies that have been digitally re-mastered into IMAX’s format, as well as original documentary-style IMAX content.

Images of exceptional quality, combined with IMAX's proprietary digital surround sound system and patented theatre geometry create “The IMAX Experience®,” making audiences feel as if they are IN the movie. With proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology, several of the biggest Hollywood releases, including The Dark Knight, 300, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Spider-Man 3 and many others have been converted into IMAX’s immersive format and presented in IMAX theatres. The IMAX versions of these films have been met with excellent consumer response and critical acclaim.

Opry Mills Stadium 20 will of course offer IMAX 3D, as well. When filmmakers choose to integrate IMAX 3D into their movies, images leap off of the screen and into the laps of the audience, further enhancing the feeling of being IN the movie. With IMAX 3D the entire audience may reach out to touch the images that float off the screen!

Theatre Re-build Underway in Nashville, Tennessee

We are proud to confirm the re-opening of one of our most visited theatres in Middle Tennessee! Opry Mills Stadium 20 & IMAX is slated to re-open for business in late 2011. Clean-up has been underway since immediately after the entire Opry Mills shopping and entertainment complex was closed due dramatic flooding of the Cumberland River in early May of 2010. (flood photos). Reconstruction will soon be complete and the theatre will join other major retailers, including the already-open Bass Pro Shops.  See you soon!
